North West man awarded £10,000 after clinically unacceptable treatment
When Mr G went to his dentist, Dr T, for extensive crown and bridgework as well as a veneer, he had every confidence that his smile would be improved. However, Dr T’s work was of such low quality that one of Mr G’s teeth was completely destroyed, and all of the work needed to be redone.
After the cosmetic dentistry took place, Mr G – who hails from the North West – was unhappy with the results and was suffering with pain so sought a second opinion. It was discovered that the veneer had not been the right option for Mr G, who had not been advised of this by his dentist before deciding to go ahead with the treatment. Unfortunately, this negligence on the part of Dr T resulted in the destruction of the tooth, making continued replacement veneers a necessary expense for the patient, which could have been avoided.
The crowns and bridgework were also assessed and found to be of a clinically unacceptable standard, causing Mr G pain and discomfort as well as distress at the aesthetic outcome. All of this work needed to be replaced by dentistry of the high quality the patient expected in the first place.
After this outcome, Mr G approached The Dental Law Partnership with his case and our expert team of dental negligence solicitors were able to secure him an award of £10,000. This will cover the costs of the restorative treatment and compensate Mr G for his pain and suffering.
A compensation claim for dental malpractice can help the victims to pay for the repair work needed to put their smile back in place again. It can cover medical bills, recoup lost earnings and assist with any other financial losses brought about as a result of the dentist’s negligence. It will also help to make up for the trauma suffered as well as the anxiety and embarrassment potentially caused by a damaged smile.
