Our client Miss I from the North East, has been awarded £16,000 in an out of court settlement after her dentist fitted her with poor veneers.
Miss I, 25, sued Dr A after he permanently damaged her teeth whilst fitting veneers.
Miss I went to Dr A in order to improve the appearance of her teeth. Dr A suggested that four veneers should be fitted to Miss I’s top front teeth.
Two of the veneers soon fell off. Miss I visited another dentist who told her that the veneers were poorly fitted and that all four needed to be replaced with crowns.
Dr A had failed to offer Miss I any other options and had permanently damaged Miss I’s teeth.
When fitting the veneers Dr A removed too much tooth enamel meaning crowns became the only suitable replacement. The crowns on Miss I’s teeth will need to be replaced approximately every 10 years.
Dr A did not admit liability, however the Dental Law Partnership were able to secure a £16,000 settlement for Miss I in a veneers claim, she commented – “I never would have chosen veneers if I had known that this could happen, but I’m glad it’s finally settled and I can begin to move on.”
