Robert Pettitt, trainee legal executive at the Dental Law Partnership, successfully helped a client obtain £2,000 in compensation after he received substandard treatment from his dentist.
Mr I from the East Midlands was a regular attendee at his local dental practice. He was happy to take any dental advice from Dr B and trusted his judgment on any treatment that was needed.
At one of his visits Mr I was provided with root canal treatment after having a spell of toothache. The procedure seemed to go okay and there were no concerns. It wasn’t until a number of years later that the problems came to light. Mr I had started visiting another dental clinic, and after having an x-ray was told that the treatment he had been given by Dr B was to a poor standard.
Due to Dr B’s poor treatment, Mr I now requires repeat root canal treatment and crown provisions. This could have all been avoided if Mr I had been provided with satisfactory root canal treatment in the first instance.
Mr I commented, “You put a lot of trust in your dentist and expect them to provide you with the best level of care! I feel disappointed that this happened but now the case has settled I can hopefully put it all behind me.”
