We are generally taught from a young age to trust our dentist and to believe that they are doing the best possible job when it comes to looking after our teeth. In most cases this is true, but there are unfortunately some dentists who act in a negligent way and, as such, cause damage, pain and suffering for their patients.
Miss G was the victim of such negligence for 12 years after mistakenly putting her trust in Dr R. During this period of more than a decade, Dr R failed to treat tooth decay in four teeth, despite Miss G complaining of continuous pain. This level of neglect for this long meant that when the problem was finally discovered, Miss G required root canal treatment and crowns on two teeth – more expense on top of all of the wasted money she had spend over 12 years.
It was also discovered that Dr R had supplied fillings which were placed over existing decay and were to a very poor standard. As these fillings had failed, replacement fillings were required adding yet more expense.
After discovering the extent of Dr R’s negligence, Miss G sought the advice of the Dental Law Partnership. Our solicitors specialise in dental malpractice and saw that Miss G was eligible to claim for compensation to cover the expense of her treatments and the money that had gone to waste over the years, as well as making up for the pain and suffering she had undergone. As a result, Miss G was awarded £11,500.
