South West Woman receives £10,000 compensation after being fitted with unsatisfactory veneers
The Dental Law Partnership, a leading UK solicitors firm providing dental complaints service has helped a client to recover £10,000 in dental compensation after they were fitted with unsatisfactory veneers.
Ms G from the South West was unhappy with the appearance of her teeth. So decided to make an appointment to see Dr B for a consultation to decide what options would be best for her. She was advised that veneers would be a good route to go down. Wanting to close the gap in her front teeth Ms G agreed to have the veneers fitted.
While things seemed to be going okay at first with the veneers it didn’t take long for gaps to reappear. Ms G went back to Dr B complaining of pain and dissatisfaction with the appearance of the veneers.
Still seeing no improvement with her teeth Ms G arranged an appointment with another dentist. Ms G was advised that she had gum disease which was why her teeth were drifting. The veneers should not have been placed until after the gum disease was treated correctly. The veneer preparation which was undertaken had caused significant damage to four front teeth.
Ms G commented, “I’m in complete shock. I decided to go ahead with the veneers to alter the appearance of my drifting teeth. I was not told about gum disease and I’d been to plenty of appointments with Dr B where I could have been informed.”
As a result of Dr B’s negligence, Ms G will now face future treatment which will include veneer replacement, root canal treatment and crowns. She has suffered from discomfort, toothache and social embarrassment.
