Miss N from the South West approached the Dental Law Partnership who successfully helped her secure £10,000 in damages after being badly mistreated by her dentist.
After suffering from a sudden spell of toothache, Miss N decided to book an appointment to see her local dentist and after what seemed like a thorough examination, Dr B advised that a root canal treatment would be required. Miss N agreed, unaware of the repercussions that would follow.
Miss N was under the impression that this procedure would mean she would be free from the reoccurring pain in her tooth so agreed to the root canal treatment. However after the procedure Miss N’s pain continued and she suffered from a number of abscesses, which in turn led to further infection. After returning to the dentist it was noted that a repeat root canal treatment would need to be provided after the first one was of unsatisfactory standard.
A few months after the repeat root canal treatment had taken place Miss N went back complaining of soreness around the tooth. Miss N was advised of treatment options but having been in pain since 2011 and enduring two attempts to provide a satisfactory root canal treatment already she opted for the tooth to be removed.
She said, “I couldn’t stand it any longer, it was having an impact on my everyday life and I would just be in constant pain. I thought the extraction would mean the end of this experience but the discomfort continued.”
Miss N’s pain continued and she has been prescribed various forms of antibiotics in order to attempt to control it. She also attended multiple different clinics, including a psychologist, to assist with the pain relief.
Miss N suffered from continuing facial pain and will require an implant supported crown in the future. After deciding to take up her case with the Dental Law Partnership, our skilled team of dental injury lawyers were able to review the damage caused to Miss N’s oral health and ensured they did all they could to secure her the compensation she deserved. We were successfully able to support her in obtaining a total of £10,000 in dental negligence compensation which will hopefully help towards her road to recovery.
