Miss M was a regular attending patient at her local dental practice and believed she was receiving the best level of care whenever she went to her appointments. However it was soon brought to light that this wasn’t the case.
Dr A and Dr V, Miss M’s two dentists, both failed to diagnose and treat tooth decay in her dentition to a satisfactory standard in one tooth, and they provided her with a poor filling at another. As the decay wasn’t treated properly the condition of the teeth deteriorated significantly.
Miss M attended an emergency appointment with another dentist after suffering pain in the right side of her mouth and jaw. She said, “The pain in my mouth got to a point where I couldn’t put up with it any longer, I decided to visit another dentist because I had a feeling that something wasn’t right.”
It was during this visit Miss M was told that her tooth was badly decayed and that she would need an extraction under local anaesthetic to fix the problem caused by Dr A and Dr V, and she would also need root canal treatment on another tooth.
Miss M commented, “To be told that you are suffering from decay when you’ve been going to regular check-ups is pretty hard to hear!”
Due to Dr A and Dr V’s negligence Miss M has experienced avoidable sensitivity, discomfort and severe pain over a 6 years period. Miss M will have to undergo implant replacement therapy to close the gap left by her extracted tooth and will require root canal treatment. She will also need crown replacements at regular intervals for the foreseeable future.
After suffering for so long Miss M decided she needed to take action and called The Dental Law Partnership. Our team of specialists took on her case and helped her reach the outcome of £3,500 compensation to help towards future remedial treatment.
