Dental Law: Year in Review 2024

To help welcome in the new year, we have gathered a roundup of everything the Dental Law team got up to this year. Time may have flown but in reality, it has been a very busy year! From testing new marketing strategies to keeping our company ahead of the curve and continuing to pursue our passion for helping victims of dental negligence get the compensation and access to justice they deserve.

✨ Our biggest settlement of the year £90,000

✨ We featured in 197 publications

✨ Increased our Reviews to 4.8 on Trustpilot

Celebrations & Accreditations

The DLP family is growing bigger and stronger, in 2024 we hired 5 new members of staff and promoted 4. We’re delighted with the newly hired and well-deserved promotions – “the determination our staff have shown to secure the best settlement possible for our clients is proven day in day out.”

Aside from our internal growth, we obtained our Legal 500 accreditation for the 9th year running, a well-earned recognition of all the hard work and dedication our staff hold. We are very proud of this achievement and is a credit to every member of staff at DLP.

We had exciting sponsorships back in September, we had an opportunity to feature in Dr Amir Khan’s health magazine “Live to 100”. This latest edition looked at ways of dealing with stress, examined issues surrounding your oral health and the ways we can all adapt to live longer healthier lives. We deep dived into what exactly the term “Dental Negligence” means and how to recognise the signs of poor dental treatment. This was great exposure for DLP and helped to raise awareness and the importance of recognising dental negligence and knowing the next steps to take.

In The Press

We’ve had an incredible year of press coverage in both local and national news outlets. This year we have published stories in the Daily Mail, The Mirror Online, The Guardian, Manchester Evening News, BBC News and that’s just naming a few… I wonder which media outlets you’ll see us in next year.

We even had the amazing opportunity to be featured on Sky News at the end of the year, about the growing “Dental crisis” in the UK. During the interview our Joint Managing Director David-Corless-Smith spoke about our most recent research findings “𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒐𝐢𝐧𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝟑 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒓 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒏𝒆𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆.” Then in conjunction with our new research we launched our new claims tool, if you’re not sure whether you’ve experienced dental negligence or not, you can use our quick two-minute self-assessment tool to find out if you could have a claim for compensation today.

Supporting Staff & our Local Community

We had other reasons to celebrate this year too. At the start of 2024, we celebrated random acts of Kindness Day, where we picked 3 lucky members of staff at random to receive a gift, just to show a little company appreciation to our staff. Then rolled in June which boasted our family fun day, filled with sweets, games and lots of laughter.

Throughout the year, we raised money for charities in the local area such as Macmillan and the Trussel Foodbank in Nantwich, we donated three big boxes of food, toiletries and presents for the Food Bank, to help families and individuals who are vulnerable and going through hardships at this time of year, it was a huge success and is something we wish to do again next year.

In July, we hired an ice cream van to rock up on our office car park and surprise our staff in their lunch breaks. This proved to be a big hit with everyone in the office! (quickly adds to marketing budget for next year!?)

2024 Industry Updates

The Dental industry has undergone significant changes in 2024, specifically to NHS dentistry. From 1st April NHS dental charges in England increased by 4% this means a dental filling now costs £73.50 when historically it cost £70.70. The NHS also made plans to expand the access to more patients, this included plans to send dental vans to rural and coastal communities to provide appointments in areas where access is more limited, as well as targeted funding which will be used to encourage dentists to work in areas where less dentists available. The new Labour government made plans to improve service standards and accessibility across the UK, in September the NHS published a review and reiterated Labours plans to fix the NHS, but it seems a focus on preventative measures are taking a higher priority for the government at the moment. You can read more about this here. With the Dental Market Review 2024 reporting over £750 million in sector growth transactions over the past year, this further highlights the demand and necessity for dentistry in this country.
