Am I eligible to make a restorative dentistry compensation claim?
You may be eligible to make a restorative dentistry compensation claim if:
- Your dentist planned or carried out the procedure to a poor standard
- The procedure caused avoidable pain or worsened your existing oral health issues
- You were not advised about the risks or alternatives
- Corrective work was required to fix the mistakes made during the procedure
Also, you must start your claim within three years of the date the negligent dental treatment occurred (or of the date you first realised there was an issue). This is the legal statute of limitations, and you won’t be able to claim if you miss this three-year window.

Case study: £9,250 awarded for poor restorative dental treatment
Our client, a personal trainer and nutritionist, had a long-standing dental bridge replaced as part of her routine restorative care. Unfortunately, the treatment was poorly executed: the new bridge was incorrectly sized across five teeth when only three were required, causing her bite to change so significantly that she began biting her own lip while eating.
Despite attending regular appointments and raising concerns about red, sore, and bleeding gums, her dentist repeatedly reassured her that everything was fine. It was only when she developed a painful abscess that the dentist finally diagnosed her with severe gum disease, leaving her at risk of losing multiple teeth.
