Our client Mrs Y a 44 year old woman from the East Midlands has received a £10,000 out of court settlement after she suffered 15 years of poor treatment from her dentist.

Mrs Y was a patient of Dr L for 15 years, between 2001 and 2010 Mrs Y visited her dentist on 14 separate occasions complaining of pain, and was routinely prescribed antibiotics; during this time Mrs Y underwent a number of treatments including root canal treatment, fillings and had a crown placed on one of her upper right molars.

When Mrs Y visited a new dentist in 2011 it was discovered that there was decay under a number of fillings which were of a poor standard. She was suffering from chronic infection and would have to undergo extensive remedial treatment to correct the problems.

As a result of Dr L’s prolonged poor treatment of Mrs Y’s teeth, she has suffered the avoidable loss of one of her teeth, had to undergo further root canal treatment and had to have a replacement fillings at a number of her teeth.

Dr L did not admit liability; nonetheless Mrs Y was able to secure a £10,000 settlement with the help of the Dental Law Partnership. ‘I am glad that I have received compensation for the extensive poor treatment I have received.’
