The Dental Law Partnership, a leading UK solicitors firm helped a client to recover £5,500 in dental compensation after her dentist failed to provide acceptable root canal treatment. This led to years of pain and discomfort and risks resulting in the future loss of a tooth.
Mrs E attended an appointment with her regular dentist complaining of pain in her tooth. After a discussion of treatment options, including extraction or root canal treatment, her dentist referred her to a specialist clinic for root canal treatment.
A couple of months later, our client underwent the advised root canal treatment with a restorative specialist. Following the root canal treatments our client attended an emergency appointment with a different dentist due to the pain and discomfort she was feeling. Our client was advised to use Corsodyl gel and told to return if symptoms worsened.
During a review at the clinic, Mrs E was advised if her symptoms didn’t settle, she would require re-root canal treatment. Our client consented to the repeat treatment and underwent more canal treatments, during the treatment a canal was missed and not filled.
Due to the poor root canal treatments and constant on-going pain Mrs E was feeling, she reached out and got a second opinion where the extent of the poor treatment she received from the restorative specialist was uncovered. Canals were missed during the first phase of her treatment, which meant repeat root canal treatment had to be provided. One tooth had a significant infection and needed deep restoration, which should have been done at the outset. And it was here that she was advised if the pain continues to consider extraction of the tooth.
